The production process of zinc oxide generally has two kinds, namely direct method and indirect method.
Direct method of zinc oxide with a variety of zinc minerals or debris as raw materials, zinc oxide in the heating reaction with coke, is reduced to metal zinc by steam, and then oxidized to zinc oxide by oxygen in the air, to remove most of the impurities, the direct method of zinc oxide particles coarse, product purity between 75%-99.5%.The raw material of indirect zinc oxide is the metal zinc ingot or zinc slag obtained by smelting, and the zinc is converted into zinc vapor in the graphite crucible at a high temperature of 1000°C, and then the air pumped in is oxidized to produce zinc oxide, and the zinc oxide particles are collected after the cooling tube.
Indirect method was popularized by the French scientist LeClaire in 1844, so it is also called French law. Indirect production of zinc oxide process technology is simple, the cost is greatly affected by raw materials, indirect production of zinc oxide particle diameter of 0.1-10 microns, purity between 99.5%-99.7%, according to the total output calculation, indirect method is the most important method for the production of zinc oxide.
Direct zinc oxide is generally used in ceramic, glaze, frit, glass, pigment industry. Indirect zinc oxide can be used in rubber, varistor, paint, phosphating fluid, film, thermal conductivity materials and other industries. The heavy metal content of zinc ingot or zinc slag directly affects the heavy metal impurity content of the product, and the products with low heavy metal content can also be used in livestock feed, medicine, medical care and other industries.
